POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19

Repeating, interlocking designs are called tessellations. In this class, students will learn the basics of symmetry, pattern, and tessellations and apply the knowledge to the development of 2-D repeating and interlocking designs. Students will convert the designs into 3-D bas-relief tiles and make reusable silicone rubber positives of them. The rubber positives will be used to create a range of molds for hot casting and kiln casting glass tiles. All skill levels are welcome.

KNITTING WITH GLASSSeattle-based artist, Carol Milne will share her secret ‘knitted glass’ technique.   We will start by knitting or forming strands of dimensional wax into art. You will then learn to transform the wax into glass using the lost-wax casting process.  You'll learn all aspects of casting: wax-working, spruing waxes, mold-making, kiln schedules, divesting and cold-working.  NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF KNITTING IS REQUIRED.  All levels are welcome, but beginners should be prepared to be challenged.
