POSTPONED Tessellations: Exploring the Basics of Symmetry & Pattern

  • The Studio at Corning Museum of Glass 1 Museum Way Corning, NY, 14830 United States (map)

POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19

Repeating, interlocking designs are called tessellations. In this class, students will learn the basics of symmetry, pattern, and tessellations and apply the knowledge to the development of 2-D repeating and interlocking designs. Students will convert the designs into 3-D bas-relief tiles and make reusable silicone rubber positives of them. The rubber positives will be used to create a range of molds for hot casting and kiln casting glass tiles. All skill levels are welcome.
